How to check your ping
1) Go to Start > Run
2) Type in "command" or "cmd" depending on your OS.
3) Type in "tracert *realm.battle.net"
you can also make it a bit more easier, depends on you OS:
1) Go to Start > Run
2) Type in "tracert *realm.battle.net"
*: Change this with your realm(Asia, Europe, USEast, USWest). For example, europe.battle.net, then you have to type "tracert europe.battle.net".
thats how you can find out your real ping

Also, most hosting tools provide a rough ping reading. Then again, most people don't use third-party tools when they host so everyone gets delay Just so you know: if you don't use a latency reducer, your ping doesn't matter much (unless it's too high).

latency reducer only works for hosts right?
Re: How to check your ping
The host has to set it (from the default 250* to something lower, I usually use 100) so the people who join the game will have less delay (depending on their own latency).
*BNet standard

that wasnt my question.
can i get lesser lag if i use delay reducer when im NOT host?
Re: How to check your ping
No, it only works if the host is using it because you're connected to his PC and not vica versa.
That's why I don't like joining other people's H&A games. The delay is really annoying, especially when using abilities like stun etc. that require perfect timing.

Re: How to check your ping
yes, u have to try to look in the future figuring out whats the enmies next moveEDGe.Ilsyde wrote:that require perfect timing.
btw. but its not something like listchecker or?
its a perfect ping if host has good connection and uses listchecker and no laggers/ppl with high ping in the game
Re: How to check your ping
Exactly. That's what I'm talking about.scooby wrote:yes, u have to try to look in the future figuring out whats the enmies next moveEDGe.Ilsyde wrote:that require perfect timing.
If the host is not using any kind of latency reducers, you get the normal 250ms from BNet which is a quarter of a second. Now, put some lag on top and you'll never be able to predict when to press the hotkey for stun etc.
Yes, listchecker has the same function but using a different approach. It hosts a LAN game on BNet (LAN games have almost no delay at all). There are other programs as well, I'm using VCK for quite a time now and it's brilliant.

ildruido had some probs with ping...
Hold down your [windows key + R] to use the run command shortcut or go to your start menu and click on run.
Once you use the short cut or use the run button in the start menu the run command will popup.
After you type in "cmd" with out the quotes in the in the command line and click on OK button and the CMD.exe program will open.
This is the CMD.exe and it can do ms-dos commands and ping website and IP addresses.
to ping battle.net, type: tracert europe.battle.net
to ping the bots, type: ping mortred.cryptwizard.info
i have 49ms atm, when i ping to wikipedia i have the same: ping en.wikipedia.org
